The cat has crapped in the bath

The cat has crapped in the bath
We were woken up by the smell
It was one or two in the morning
A time I don’t know so well

She usually scratches the carpet
To warn of her impending need
Ripping it up, till it wakes us up
So we can open the door
On the ground floor
To let her out
So she can let it out
And satisfy her need

We heard her scratching the bath
Our plastic one from B&Q.
I wonder how long it will last
With ten claws scratching
Each morning at two.

She saves it all up in the day
And waits till it’s dark
I can’t say,
If she does it to spite us
Or because she don’t like us
But it always feels that way

Sometimes it’s a false alarm,
And to save our noses from harm,
We stagger from bed and follow her instead,
Following the tail
On the stairs by the rail
She leads the short line
And all is sublime
Till she turns at the bottom
And heads for
Her food pot instead.

Why do we put up
With such a pain
in the butt?
At two in the am
I don’t know.
But when getting home from work
She greets with a chirp
And a purr not a fowl smelling pooh.
Her pounding and kneeding
Makes her worth feeding
Without her what would we do?
