Finally a decent Vampire Movie

See the trailer – Daybreakers

They’ve taken over the world, they farm humans for blood and they don’t sparkle. It comes out January 2010.

What about Interview with the vampire? that is the only good Vampire movie in my opinion.

  • Jessica Walker replied

It was good, but I’m tired of vampire romance… it’s over done. And these days it’s over done in a very tacky way.

  • Kyra Webb

    & Bram Stoker’s Dracula!! :)

  • Jessica Walker replied

Decent but a little corny. ;) I do have it on my computer though. But it was back when they didn’t have a lot of options when it came to special effects.

Woah, that looks cool though, very original.

  • Jessica Walker replied

yeah I think so too ;)

Gary Oldman is my favourite Dracula :)

Thanks for the link! It looks really well done.

  • Jessica Walker replied

I love Gary Oldman regardless of what character he’s playing. :D

I like the song too.. first time I’ve heard it and I think it really adds to the movie trailer. Who is the original song by?

Looks promising… a little too much “action” for my liking, but the premise seems very interesting. I’ll definitely be looking forward to that! Thanks a lot for the link, Jessica ;]

  • Jessica Walker replied

These days Hollywood is bound to want to over do the action, but at least it looks like there’s a good story line and plot to it. Maybe even some character development.

kate bush, the original is amazing too, so many remixed versions on you poo though. if you can get a listen at the original original, it’s def. worth a listen. beautiful stuff, a bit 80’s cause it did come out in 1985, way before your time, your mum and dad would know it for sure. ;-) xox

  • Jessica Walker replied

I can ask my dad.. except they’re old hippies so whatever was going on in 85 was probably too hip for them, lol.

  • Jessica Walker replied

Oh and not like super ahead of my time.. just a wee bit. I was born in 89.

  • ys-eye

    ys-eye

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree with you, Jess. After all, they made Fight Club look ridiculous in the adverts, but it was one of the most amazing films I’d ever seen! I always try to look past the glossy covers, and I definitely think this one will be worth it! :)

  • Jessica Walker replied

I don’t remember the advertisements for fight club.. but I know it’s one of my favorite movies (and books). ;)

LOL, hippies huh. well if you ask me they are the coolest! LOL
i bet you any money he knows it, it was a huge hit. ;-) xox

    Looks awesome.
I am a fan of vampires in general as a concept and like the occasional romance, because it is pretty sexy. I do like the occasional twist on teh theme like this, too.
    Just a vamp ho, I guess. :-)

  • Jessica Walker replied

I’ve been interested in vampires since I was in 7th grade. But a lot of the stuff in the media has been a let down to me. A lot of it is so cheesy. I like the romance once in a while but I can only appreciate it when there’s a real life or death danger to it. Like oh this vampire is sexy, but could possibly rip out my throat or break my bones at any moment. There isn’t enough of that. I don’t like it when Vampires have a conscience. ;) I like evil, thirsty vampires. But mostly this movie looks like it not only has a really good plot, but one that hasn’t really been done before. I can remember times when I’ve actually said, why not make a movie where vampires have taken over the world… finally somebody had the same idea!

The adverts were so bad, that I had to convince my best friend, James, to go see it with me… and it became one of his favorite films! It’s kind of funny, but he often gets compared to Edward Norton ...
Even Chuck Palahniuk, the author of Fight Club, said the movie version was better put together than his own original book! LOL

  • Jessica Walker replied

Yes I’ve talked to James, he does indeed look a lot like Edward. =P
I liked the book better than the movie. But that’s because books have more detail and more information than movies can compile. The book had a lot more sick humor in it too. But the movie is still excellent and wonderfully casted to fit the characters in the book.

I think my favorite vampire movie of all time would have to be The Hunger, but I really liked Interview With The Vampire as well, despite Tom Cruise! ;)

  • Jessica Walker replied

The Hunger was really creative.. I just wish Susan Sarandon didn’t look like, pardon me, a dyke… her 80’s hair irritated me, lol. But the concept behind the movie was very unique.

have you seen ginger snaps, i really liked it. hehe ;-) xox
    trailer link

  • Jessica Walker replied

It was too weird to me.. I mean it’s more about werewolves but the 1st and 2nd movies don’t make any sense as being a series, lol

well im not into vampire movies or books but i love the concept …..

looks kinda cool, got to say love vamp movies, the only thing that puts me off is william dafoe, he over acts everything! but the rest of the cast look good.

  • Jessica Walker replied

I like Willem Dafoe because he puts so much intensity into his characters.. I don’t know how many of his films you’ve seen. But he’s great in The Boondock Saints.

  • Dan Elbourne

you’ve GOT to see “Låt den rätte komma in” (let the right one in). it’s a swedish film with english subtitles. totally unique vampire film :)

  • Jessica Walker replied

I actually remember seeing a trailer for that one and hearing that it got good reviews. Not sure if it’s available yet in the US? It’s harder to find foreign films here because people are stupid enough that they can’t handle reading subtitles… I am very fond of foreign films. Hopefully I can track it down some time. ;)

I liked every Hammer movie. Not scary or frightening but buckets of fun.
And then there was ….. err….. that one about the vampire rabbits. Or did I dream it?

LOL! Interesting to read all this vampire talk here. Vampire fans should check out Pontianak This was what scared me when I was young ;-p and would still scare me if I were to meet one or watch a movie today.

i’ve yet to see the part 11 to it. yes that’s right, it’s about ware wolves. hehe
this is turning out to be a very informative journal.
    nice one jessica. ;-) xox

    haha thanks ;)

If you like Wm. DeFoe, did you ever see Shadow of the Vampire (2000) with him as the vampire???? He looks so much like the original nosteratu from way back.

  • Jessica Walker replied

Yes I have that movie, I haven’t watched the entire thing, but I’ve seen random scenes in it.. I sorta skipped through to the ending.. lol. But he looks almost exactly like the original and is very good at being creepy. ;)

looking it up on amazon, there does seem to be a u.s. version on sale. however, according to reviews , they seem to have messed with the subtitles on this version. so maybe wait until they release a better version.

That looks great, I’ll be lining up for that one. Love the Placebo version of ‘Running up that Hill’ too.

Vampires took over the world in the novels Anno Dracula and sequels, and The Empire of Fear, but I can’t quickly think of a movie that’s done it before…

I’ve always disliked vamp movies that are just splashy gore flicks, or silly horror comedies. Funny how vampires in fiction have evolved, from their evil roots to today’s sparkling softies.

  • Jessica Walker replied

The sparkling softies make me so furious… lol

I have the original, old, Nosteratu with the soundtrack by Type O Negative…very interesting

  • Jessica Walker replied

    That sounds cool lol
Unfortunately I haven’t actually seen the old original…
I think I tried to find it for download and had no success.
I’ve just seen clips of it.

there was to many comments to read , so i dont know if any one suggested
    “let the right one in”
    very good take on vampires.

  • Jessica Walker replied

    Yes it was suggested ;)

Cool trailer! I was keeping an eye on this film since awhile now and I’m glad it’s in its final stages of production.
That Let The Right One In thing, I believe it was too artistic, too slow and too romantic for a vampire film. You know, too European. Nice to watch once but I get pissed off seeing the critics every now and then giving so much attention to something that isn’t that worthy.
Now, this was a hell of a vampire movie and I’m really surprised no one mentioned it above!

    ZOMBIE

  • Jessica Walker replied

I am fond of European movies so I might like it better than you did. But everyone has different tastes. I did like 30 days of Night I just wish they told us more about the vampires and where they came from. ;)

So you can also try this

    Another good european vampire flick.
    Cheers.
