TRAPPED

It seems i am trapped in a world
where my mind has me lost
my life has paid a tremendous cost
misery, and death at my back door
envy, and jealousy crawling on my floor
my soul screaming because it can’t take no more

It seems i am trapped in a world
where love doesn’t blossom anymore
it festers like a salt filled sore
why do i believe in heaven, or more?
when hell surrounds me for sure

It seems i am trapped in a world
where people seem insane
all trying to get in my brain
what God is there to gain?
for what they really want
i would have given for free
yet the demons try to consume me

It seems i am trapped in a world
where angels call my name
where little kids think life is a game
where poverty won’t leave me alone
yet i am portrayed like a king on a throne

It seems i am trapped in a world
of my own design
lost in the creativity, or imagination in my mind
every moment just passes bye
until a tear fell from my eye
danced down memory lane
with slavery chains, and sugarcane
civil rights, and fear filled nights
the magic that love brings felt out of sight
the joy of birth, and a little boy
or nights filled alcoholic joys

It seems i am trapped in a world
where i forever grow
i guess i can never change that so
life goes on, and time will tell
i breathe in the polluted air
why not!!
do i really care?

Wow, Keith. This is such a sad poem, but filled with such depth. I hope you are not really this sad. Our feelings may seem eternal, as mine did years ago, but they are so temporal. May God bless you and give you peace. Jesus Christ has come into the world, that we may have life, and that we may have it more abundantly. He wants to give us His peace, and His joy. Thank-you for sharing this poem with Mustard Seeds~I look forward to seeing more of your work. You are in my prayers, Keith, whether or not these are your feelings.

  • it’s a mixed bag of emotion, but simply poetry, and if a certain sadness does exist God will erase it
