360 DEGREES OF BLACKNESS

Now a rainbow cannot begin to explain
the colors in every drop of rain
it’s like a melody
no a symphony
that drips from the sky
a tear that falls from the eye
only to bounce right back up

Now a magician cannot do this
cast a spell or grant a wish
that shows such beauty
it’s not just ebony
oh yeah it’s ivory
rubies, and topaz
r&b and jazz
a flat or nice ass
its sweet poetry
in motion drifting in a sea
that surrounds you, and me

Now a politician can’t lie
only a racist can deny
the radiant glow
the essence of pure life as we know
that silky smooth skin
that chocolate
that caramel
oh! the stories a brother could tell
of redbones, and sweet dark berries
oh! the flavors they do vary
360 degrees of blackness

Now i don’t mean to exaggerate
but sometimes it does intimidate
when you think of pyramids, and cotton gins
barack obama, and his new friends
maya angelo, and artists we know
like oprah, and denzel
slavery, and escaping the depths of hell
oh well
i dive into a stream of south african blood
which turns into a flood
drowning my people in HIV
we shall overcome, and we will be free

Now i drift quietly asleep
because now i don’t wanna get too deep
my mind is wandering into a hole
where they once captured soul
i just want to climb right out
scream and shout
we are asian, caucasian, hispanic and more
yet we continue to fight
can you tell me what for
the world revolves more and more
around 360 degrees of blackness

no suntan can change this image
no color can win this scrimmage
there’s no battle for real
people are just stuck on beauty for real
can’t see inside the prism
is a colorful prison
where idiots, and racist reside
with foolish pride, and homocide
i’m hear to say ok
watch it all decay
that prism was made by god
to destroy it will be real hard
i love
360 degrees of blackness
