BLACKNESS

U CAN’T DEFINE BLACKNESS
AS ONE RACE
AS THE DARKNESS WE FACE
THE UGLY INSTEAD OF THE GOOD
THE PEOPLE FROM THE HOOD
U CAN’T DEFINE BLACKNESS
BY HIP HOP, R&B, BLUES, OR JAZZ
THE RACIST IMAGES OF THE PAST
THE COMEDIANS THAT MAKE YOU LAUGH
U CAN’T DEFINE BLACKNESS
BY EBONICS, OR THE N WORD
BY WHAT U HEARD
AS A COLOR, OR ANYTHING ABSURD
IT’S NOT WATERMELONS, AND CHICKEN
IT’S NOT COTTON PICKIN
U CAN’T DEFINE BLACKNESS
AS MINISTERS, PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES
HOW MUCH FOOD U HAVE ON YOUR PLATE
IT’S NOT YOUR COMMUNITY
IT’S NOT UNITY
IT’S NOT U & ME
U CAN’T DEFINE BLACKNESS
IT’S 360 DEGRESS OF LIFE
THE BEGINNING OF MANKIND
IT’S LIKE A NEVERENDING RAINBOW
IT’S A RAINFOREST CONTINUING TO GROW
IT’S INTELLIGENCE
IT’S KINDNESS
IT’S A SPECIAL KIND OF LOVE
U CAN’T DEFINE BLACKNESS
FROM THE DARKNESS CAME THE LIGHT
MORNING FOLLOWS THE NIGHT
THE TRUTH IS HIDDEN
U CAN’T DEFINE BLACKNESS
IT’S SPIRITUAL
IT’S LYRICAL
U CAN’T DEFINE BLACKNESS

great words my brother in art, completely agree, the idea of giving color codes to races always seemed absurd to me…...

I’m proud of you Keith at least you didn’t say African American, at term thought of by the government to make the uneducated feel comfortable and give the sensitive a way to feel even more sensitive, I had a an incredibly educated political science teacher(need I define him by his color?) he had like five doctorates and touched onthis concept saying that it was term by the government as Doublespeak or Newspeak they called it a way as to unify the US but all it did was drive a wedge. I mean after all, I don’t callmyself Scottish, German, Mexican American do I? Or Caucasion American? It’s stupid,,, and besides…why do we have to define by color of skin anways ;) great writing, loved it!

Stereotypical ignorance certainly has a way of keeping racism & associations that still keep us segregated from each other as Humans, doesn’t it?
