KEITH R. WILLIAMS

THE SERMON OF THE HOMELESS

Bow your heads in prayer
Father we ask that You bless the unfortunate today
those with no food, no shelter, no love in their hearts
we ask that your goodness, and mercy shine upon their souls
We are gathered here today to speak about a worldwide crisis
Afflicting millions of god’s children as we speak
whether it is through poverty, or war, drugs, or sin, or no fault at all
It’s toll is like the depths of hell
Homeless people exist from all walks of life
The discimination is unbearable but I must speak on it today
The problem is not reckonizing, not caring, not loving, not yours
you might say, but one day it might come your way
I see the homeless everyday, and sometimes i want to runaway
from the fact that this is me, and my life
My foolish pride, and my anger, my reasoning, my soul yearns to be free
of this torment satan has placed upon me.
Then i realized though i walk through the shadows of the valley of death
that i will fear no evil, and suddenly satan no longer had a hold on me
I loosened his bonds, and reached out with my soul,
and the wonders of god came to me.
not just family, and friends, but sanity
hear me father i said sanity
Knowing with wisdom anything is possible, and this too shall will pass
gave me the strength to rise, and focus on helping others
even though lord this is still me
People look in amazement as if i’m crazy
Why is he focusing on others, and my answer why shouldn’t i be!!
Tomorrow is not promised, and my faith tells me
my heavenly father is with me. Why should i worry about monetary things
my father will provide all in due time
So many are focused on what they have, and they see nothing
blinded by their greed, selfishness, pride, and much more
none of that will help you through god’s door
One last thing i want you to remember
Jesus Christ was also a homeless man
They followed, and cherished his words
So today when i see the fortunate laugh at the homeless
I know how he felt when they placed him on trial
called him all types of names
then he died for us all

Wow Keith you really said it all here. It is all the little things you do that add up just making friends with someone in need is huge and if you can spare anything it is so much appreciated. You are right people scoff at the homeless all the time and you really touched on this very well! God bless for you are a child of God!

This is so true, and so powerful Keith. There’s so much going on in the world that we don’t choose to see. I think your poem just highlighted something that needs to be addressed. :] Good work.

You know, this gives me solace in my difficult situation right now, it was meant for me to read this today! You are beautiful and your outlooks on life are amazing! This truly enlightened me greatly, I share those thoughts with you. It is good, it is GREAT to help others, even with a kind word, because if you achieve happiness, that is all that matters, but if you achieve wealth and keep it all for yourself, how are you to be happy. I t about giving NOT getting, the is what Christ in The Curch teaches us. Keep up you great writing Keith, I love it!

This brought me to tears. People become blind to what is around them. They lose their hearts and never turn around to pick them up. They get lost in what they call life and never put a hand out there to help anyone. I have seen people do this. I seen a little girl laying in the road because someone hit her with their car and never looked back. I grabbed my cross that I have hanging in my car as I watched the EMT crew trying to make her breathe again.
