My mother spent many years sleeping on the streets under bridges wearing not much more than a garbage bag for a rain coat she was in her 30’s then suffering severe mental illnes. Now she sleeps warm & is well looked after I cannot begin to tell you the brick walls I hit trying to get her help.

Excuse me for daring to make a political comment, but (some) countries spend so much money on war, yet I don’t understand why we can’t at least (at least!) provide shelter from the elements (weather) for the people without homes. A large place to go in each big city where there is protection from the weather if nothing else. So they don’t freeze to death, or get mugged or raped. Just a thought. Great work Keith. Smiles from Jane:-)

Brilliant work Keith, this issue needs to be addressed~and shame on those people that actually have money and a home and still stand on the corner begging for money. We spend so much money helping everyone else that we forget to help our own. What a touching piece, Keith~instant fave!!

We also need to remember the ‘hidden homeless’. There are ‘homeless’ people and ‘roofless’ people. Every single day there are thousands of people ‘sofa surfing’. They might not be on the streets but they’re only ever one night away from it. Sadly, these people are the ones that are most forgotten because they’re unseen.
    Excellent work Keith.

  • KEITH R. WILLIAMS

    Keith,
This is remarkable. I am a Mental Health Counselor for an inpatient Psychiatric Unit and do photographic shoots of this population…I just did one on skid row in LA. This is my passion to place this in the face of society so that this population of people cannot be shunned or faded into Non-Existence any longer.

Everyday people have struggled with homelessness, everyday people like our neighbors, co-works, schoolmates, etc. It is widespread and really leaves a scar on the heart of those who have experienced it.

I always appreciate a tribute piece to the homeless so thank you very much for your art here.

Keith, I write alot about the Homeless…it is a subject close to my heart because several years
ago I befriended a woman named Josette (poem on Bubble) who made me fully understand
how she was fine one day and in the street the next…so I have written several poems about the
Homeless on the Bubble…I also wrote a poem for Norah’s Paris La Belle de Sarkozy…and have
Norah’s photo posted next to it..It is inconceivable that in a country such as ours there are still
people living on the street…we are in a war that is being funded by billions of tax dollars..we help
other nations (which is fine)..but we need to help our poor too…it is a sad commentary on our
Government when I see people in the street embarrassed and homeless…your artwork is
    outstanding…Sally xxoo

Some would think “but for the grace of God go I” others would lie cheat and steal to keep from this fate….and some no matter what they do and as hard as they may try this is their reality….life is fickle and fate is unkind….well done well stated…art must make you think and feel as well as be aware…..Namaste….(we are our brothers keepers).
