I’m a good person, I have a huge heart…I truly dont deserve this
I’m right here waiting for you…can’t you see or bother to notice?
You know I am dying inside…from the poison that you spew
Where is the man I knew? Do you even have a clue?
Why is it her? What is it that she’s got?
Is it that she fills you with lust….
And I simply do not?
What more do I have to offer you than you already know?
There is so much more about me that doesn’t easily show
Beauty is not simply skin deep..at least not with me
Just give me a moment..take the time to rediscover thee…
I love life’s simple pleasures….and the gift of someones time
The day I gave you my soul..it was no longer just mine
A day without sight of you , deeply pains me
I often ask myself now..”Is this how it is to be?”
I will not chase you..I have at least that much pride
Where is your part in this..where does your loyalty lie?
I hope that you do not take an action that you cannot take back
Believe me I am far from perfect..and I’m sure there are things that I lack
But the grass always look greener…when looking from afar
Remember that when things are not up to par
If this journey takes you else where…and you decide to leave
At the start of your quest lays a person who in you always believed…...

I hear your heart’s cry dear Trish. Of course there are no easy solutions.

But I offer you a story:

A lazy man once wished to be rich, and in particular, wished to have gold. But he thought about it and, because he was not too greedy, decided he would like just enough gold to fashion into a beautiful golden dagger.

He prayed hard and with much fervour. Soon his wish was heard, and one night a Stranger knocked on his door. The Man opened the door and the Stranger, dressed in a long black cloak, told him that his prayer had been heard and that he was there to give him his golden dagger.

The man was so excited. ‘Please give it to me right now’, he asked. The Stranger took a beautiful wooden box from under his long dark cloak and slowly opened the lid to reveal a wonderfully crafted, beautiful, golden dagger.

The Stranger took it in his hand and, looking the man right in the eyes asked, ‘are you sure you want this dagger?’. The man replied eagerly, ‘yes, give it to me now’.

The Stranger did not hesitate for a moment, and in one quick move plunged the dagger into the man’s stomach. The man collapsed to the ground, and with the life slowly draining from him gasped, ‘why?’

The Stranger knelt next to him and replied, ‘why do you question? You have your golden dagger.’

‘But it is killing me’ gasped the man, ‘I ask, again, why?’

The Stranger replied, calmly, ‘no man should have wealth he has not worked for, but ask me and I will take it from your body. You will never see it again, but you will live.’

The man, although lazy, was not a fool, and begged the Stranger to remove it – which the Stranger did, swiftly, but not without some pain.

The Stranger stood up, walked quickly through the door and disappeared into the night.

The man, instantly healed, rose slowly to his feet, and although thoroughly shocked at the events that had overtaken him that night, became, in time, a much wiser person.

.......... the moral, one moral at least, of this story is that, sometimes the thing we desired most, can be killing us, albeit slowly, and although we have a great desire for it, we must let it go to live.

    -------

Trish – this is not saying you are a lazy person (!), it is the core moral of the story that might be useful. I hope so, but if it is not, my apologies.

Tragic and so poignantly written Trish. Why are there always so many questions and so few answers? I feel that, for the me at least, the more a question, the greater the silence and so maybe something inside of me is simply saying, “let it go”.
