I have found out some wonderful things about my son in the past few weeks…..He is 14 going on about 25…LOL…He is a very unique soul…One that is not afraid to be different…One that does not bend to the pressure of his peers…He is not afraid to stand up for his beliefs, values and morals. He cheers for the underdog.Stands up for those who get picked on by individuals that ridicule because of their own insecurities. He has the most amazing passion for life, and appreciates everyday to its fullest. He is blessed with many friends, both male and female. I asked recently a few of his “girlfriends” why he is so popular with the girls at school…Not just the ones that are in his peer group…But by those who are sophmores and juniors in high school. They told me "Chris is like a big brother to all of us, even though he is younger than us in age. He gives out the most amazing advice regarding life and relationships…about boys…and how they should treat the girls they are dating. " One young lady told me “Chris told me that it was ok to tell my boyfriend that I was not ready to go futher in our physical relationship…and that if he truly cared and respected me, that he would understand. If he was not understanding about my feelings, then he was not in the relationship for the right reasons. He said that there was plenty of time for an intimate relationship…and that this time should be spent having fun..that we grow up too fast as it is, and we should enjoy this time in our lives.” Well need I say that I have never been more proud of my son!! Every parent worries about their children. Will they make all the right decisions? No, for that is a part of growing up, and learning the difference between good and bad judgement. You cant protect your kids from life….For it is the life experiences that they encounter along their journey…that will give them insight that will be invaluable later. I asked him this morning ,“So when do you think you will know when you are in love for the first time?” Chris smiled at me and responded..“Well I already know what love feels like mom.” I looked at him and asked “So who is this girl that has captured your heart, and why haven’t I heard about this?”He looked me right in the eye as I dropped him off at school and said “It’s You mom. When I find a girl that makes me feel the love I have for you, I’ll know that she must be pretty special.” He winked at me, and closed the car door as he walked into school. As I drove away my heart just soared. Chris is far from being a grown man, but he is truly becoming an amazing young adult. I couldn’t be more proud.
God truly blessed me with an amazing youn man.
