Today

Today belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical and Something To Say

Today, I will wake you before time gets a chance
Silken, sweet heat blending with fuzzy cotton dreams
Beneath the covers of pale dawning light
You won’t even know who I am
As the bud you’ve only seen shadowed
Blushes peach, blooms coral, scarlet petals quake
Absorbing the sustenance of your caress

When last did I watch the sun rise?
Creamed coffee on cool back steps
Flavored with the after-feel and salt of you
Harmonized with bird song and cars passing by
Notarized by times before my blanket was taken
A place of summer dreams, dirty knees, laughter and glee
Unafraid of stains on my clean white dress

In the hot afternoon I will play today
No thought of chores, grief, or pain will evade
Hide and seek will only be a game
I will come out when it’s over and smile deep inside
Today, it’s alright…
It is safe to cry….
Okay to feel..
Allowing past fears to be lulled away
As a forgetfully trusting, innocent babe

Till there is only the smell of puppy breath
The sight of wildflowers and butterflies
The taste of bubble gum and sour grass
The touch of eternally comforting hands
The belief in heaven beyond bright fluffy skies
The power within to fall and still dance

Today it is enough to just be alive….

So good to see you writting again dear Trish. Staying whole in this crazy world is not always easy and yes the beauty of the spring flowers, and the memories of sunny days gives us hope for more to come. Such lovely poetry, this is where your future lies that I am sure. And is good to be alive, even if it is for one brief moment in time. You always bring me home.

    I love your Sundays!
I am surrounded in Puppy breath and I long to have coffee on the back steps to see the sun rise
You make me long for the peace & paradise of the country
and that renews my determination to move there as soon as I can
Thank you for writing the words I love to read!
    Chookas! X♥X

I feel the duplicity of lives living for a breath of peace with the weight of the world surrounding you. Love and spring makes it go aways for a bit, but it hangs in the background waiting to make its presence known again.
