Artist's Description

T-shirt inspired by the “Hip-Hop Meditation Station” collaborative installation by Gabriel and Scarlett Pons for the 2012 G40 Exhibit in Richmond, Virginia.

The graphic is a homage to the spirit of Hip-Hop Culture and is read from the center out:

“Hip-Hop begins with the soul,
Hip-Hop begins with the beating of the heart,
Follow the lead lyrical flow before a microphone,
Never Half Step cause I’m not a half stepper,
And let us begin what where why and when, peace up
Hip-Hop Don’t stop rock rock to planet rock to planet rock,
And back in the day when I was a teenager before the rapture you called it,
Here’s your ticket hear the drummer get wicked frequency frequently,
People always asking yo what’s the phenomenon, yo what’s up, you what’s going on, no one
really knows what I’m talking about that’s right, inclusive of dance and music and art,
The voice of our youth generation, harmony and unity, the here and the now.”
