Tawny Owls have the most amazing plumage and from my point of view are a pleasure to draw. This Tawny Owl (sitting on an Alder tree stump) was part of a large group of Owls living at the Barn Owl Trust in Ashburton, Devon. The Barn Owl Trust started off by taking care of Barnies but have now started helping Tawnies and I suspect any other owls they can. Taking the photos to start with was fun but you had to remember to keep ducking.

There are two versions. The full version here and a cropped version around the image.

Drawn with a technical pen and white gel ink.
