Bar in The Negev Israel Circa 1977 by

Taken on the way back from Eilat at the bottom of Israel to Tel Aviv.

It was a scorcher in the desert, over 105 degrees Farenheight and no air conditioning in the Volkswagen Beetle.

A few miles past this Bar there was a huge old truck full of watermelons, the
young Arab guys had chopped up about 20 or 30 and had them in huge vats of ice.

It was a pleasure to pay them a few shekels to enjoy the magnificent sweet fruit.

Shot with a Pentax SLR film camera with a 50mm lens

Whoever named it must be a man of few words. A most interesting photo nonetheless.

    Fabulously moody !

  • I took the shot 35 years ago, wonder if it’s still there in the desert.
