Inside View of Hot Air Balloon
I walked behind the balloon as it was being prepared for take off,
I noticed a little flap and lifted it up and looked in, this is what I saw.
I closed the velcro flap very carefully as I was flying in that balloon within 30 minutes.
Taken with a Leica R9 with a 80mm 1:4 lens using Agfa high colour saturation film

Robin Brown
Hi Ronald, love the colours in this shot but am I correct in saying this is a bit of digital magic. This looks like one half of an image repeated as a mirror image. I never knew they had velcro flaps on hot air balloons, not sure I would have been brave enough to climb on board knowing I had shut the velcro flap!!!
Excellnt work of art though, looks like a cartoon character with two big white eyes in the centre behind the bloke with the brush!! A Blue Meaney!!
Ronald Rockman replied
The velcro flap was a bit of a worry LOL, yes yes Robin a touch of
magic like the great David Copperfield lol.

Kathryn Potempski
this is cool Rock, did you enjoy the experience?
Ronald Rockman replied
I want to back NOW !!!!!!!!!!
That was my 3rd flight, the one I really loved the most was over Central Australia, the ballon was inflated at 4:30am with a temperature of 39 degrees.
Talk about stillness and serenity only broken by the occaisional
hiss of the gas as the flame shot up into the ballon, we took off at around 5am and stayed up for a full hour watching the sun rise over the East Mac Donnell Ranges, down below I saw heards of cattle stampeding, a huge amount of Roo’s bounding across the red earth and listening to the sound of wild dogs howling at the ballon.
It was too dark to get a lot of shots but I do have some. Next time if I get the opportunity again, I will fly around midday.
So to answer your question Potempski, in a wordYes
Cheers.
Rock
Ronald Rockman replied
PS It was the outside temp that was 39 degrees, I think it hit around 43 that day, we left the Alice and hit the road to Kakadu a few days later, I love Australia, I have been travelling around since I was 17.
Wish I had all the negatives especailly from the Outback in 1959.
I was out and about selling frocks for my old man, always had a camera with me.
