Uluru Late Afternoon ( THE ROCK IMAGE BY ROCK)
The storm has past us by and the sky is blue once again.
Uluru The Worlds Largest Monolith!!
Pastel red to burgundy and spinifex to gold,
We’ve just come out of the Mulga where the plains forever roll.
And Albert Namatjira has painted all the scenes,
And a shower has changed the lustre of our land.
And it’s raining on the Rock,
In a beautiful country,
And I’m proud to travel this big land,
As an Aborigine.
And it’s raining on the Rock
What an almighty sight to see,
And I’m wishing and I’m dreaming that you were here with me.
Everlasting daisies and a beautiful desert rose
Where does their beauty come from heaven knows.
I could ask the wedge-tail but he’s away too high,
I wonder if he understands it’s wonderful to fly.
It cannot be described with a picture,
The mesmerising colours of the Olgas.
Or the grandeur of the Rock
Uluru has power!
And it’s raining on the Rock,
In a beautiful country,
And I’m proud to travel this big land,
As an Aborigine.
And it’s raining on the Rock
What an almighty sight to see,
And I’m wishing and I’m dreaming that you were here with me.

Is this place as serene as it appears? I have wanted to go there since I first saw pictures of it years ago. Hopefully, one day I will see it with my two eyes, in person.
Love this photo of the red rock against that blue sky.
Peace in the moment,
Sass

Sass, it has an eerie silence about it, it’s part of The Aboriginal Dreamtime.

My all time favourite place in the world. (Though I’ve never left the
U.S.) Beautiful capture of it. :)

Give back to my eyes, oh fountain, oh stream, the waves of a perpetual spring not yours, which causes you to ries and swell, and flow with a vigour greater than is natural to you. And you, dense air, who shade the heavenly light from my sad eyes, and are full of my sighs, give these back to my weary heart, and make your dark face clear for my power of sight. May the earth give back my feet their footsteps, so that the grass taken from it may sprout again, and Echo, now deaf to my laments, may restore their sound; may your holy lights give back to my eyes my longing looks, that I many another time love another beauty, since you take not pleasure in me.
Sonnet written to Tommaso Cavalieri 1537 by Michelangelo
Wonderful photograph, I was fortuate to visit here myself and the experience has never left me! Thank you for sharing! Hope you’re having a wonderful day?Sx
Ronald Rockman replied

It took time to find the book of Michaelangelo’s poems, but as the saying goes….better late than never! I’m very pleased you enjoyed it! Best wishes!Sx

Ronald, this has the reddish color of the mountains of Sedona, Arizona. When first I visited Sedona, I was marked on a cellular level and have never been the same as I once was. Uluru would probably be the next mark for me. I want to hear the pause in the earth’s heartbeat at this place. Thank you for sharing.
Peace,
Sassi

You are more than welcome Sassafras, great comment !

Have they renamed this rock, was it Aryers Rock at one time or something like that!!???
Ronald Rockman replied
The Aboriginal people always called it Uluru and they don’t like it refered to as Ayres Rock, it was legally changed by the goverment some thirty years ago

Ronald Rockman replied
Thanks Kellie for the wonderful critique, funny think I always promoted my Uluru Under Storm Cloud and hardly gave this image a second look, I’m pleased I found it recently in an album of mine and I rephotographed it and popped it on the bubble.

A great capture of somewhere one day I will get to visit.
Ronald Rockman replied
The feeling that comes over you is amazing as you approach the
giant monolith from about fifteen kilometres away, the closer you get to it the more exciting and magic it becomes.
