This view to the West from the Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland, was improved immensely when a young woman climbed (unpropmted) to the top of the small mound of and posed for her friend’s photo.
The Giant’s Causeway is an example of slow cooling of magma to form giant columns with a hexagonal cross-section.

Thanks for the comment – I was lucky! I took several pics when the girl suddenly appeared: she makes the image. Whoever she is – “Thanks”.

Thanks for the kind words. The rocks really are amazing and give the impression of being designed that way. I didn’t check in detail, but all of the corresponding sides of each hexagon seem to be parallel.

Thanks for the comment – it was getting to be late evening and the sun was getting low in the sky. That tends to give a yellowy glow that I like and seems to light up the rocks and the outline of the girl.

Thanks – It was one of those rare and lucky occasions when you have a camera ready to take a scene and, for an instant, something happens in shot just as you are about to press the button. Without the girl who came into view just at the right time, this picture would not be just another snap.
