“The Weeping Willow Tree”
written by my Mother, Joann Borie

As a child, I was always fascinated with the Weeping Willow Tree. In simpler days, riding through the countryside with my parents was always a magical treat. This was especially true when I saw a graceful Willow Tree, most often by a stream or pond.

As time passes, one’s life becomes mature and more complex. Yet the willow tree still remains a symbol. When adversity happens to come our way, the natural human instinct is to weep for a while. But soon, the slender, lithe branches of the Willow Tree become the arms of our Heavenly Father, our precious families, and our lifelong friends. These arms reach out to envelop us with love and compassion and heal our very being.

Perhaps long ago, you and I both knew the message of the beautiful Willow Tree. Think about it…

About 10 years ago my Mom had her second bout with cancer. This time it was breast cancer. I’ll never forget sitting by her bedside, unable to hold the tears back. However, she stoically calmed me down and told me that everything would be alright. Leave it to a Mom to do that!

After radiation and on Mother’s Day, my Mom gave both my Brother and myself a copy of this short story. I was so touched that I immediately set out to do a pastel of a Weeping Willow Tree, located in Maryland by a small Springhouse. In a week’s time it was done. Thankfully my Mom is 100% cancer free!!

This is a photograph of the original pastel that I created for my Mom and shot with a Canon 40D. She is totally right. If adversity hits, we must spread our branches out and have faith! I believe that this is how she is still cancer free!!

My life is like a well read book that’s never ending, at least for this moment in time. As I continually add new chapters to my book, I find that my photography plays a big part in it. This is most especially true as my great love and fascination with Mother Naure never wanes. It’s my hope that you, too, will share my joy as the pages in my book of life continue to flip forward! A gorgeous work of art Pol. I love it. My boss just finished her weekly and started her monthly maintenence. Her graduation gift was “Dewy Lady”… the ladybug with the dew on it since she loves them so much. I think these types of images are treasures to our emotions and hearts. You Mom is lucky you are her daughter and visa versa. :o) Hugs for sharing this beauty.

  • Awww…thanks Bunny!! Your compliment is so beautiful and touching!! You may want to read, “Gifts From the Heart,” as you will relate to it, since it is exactly what you are talking about!! My Mom has a pile of heart shaped stones on a bookshelf, which I have gathered while I have been here, among other things as well! Yes, we are both very blessed and lucky too!! Thanks again Bunny!!! xoxo to you!! :))))

I don’t know where to start… This is a beautiful magical circle I don’t dare to cut at any place and interfere into that harmony. I rather prefer to be a tiny stone on the road to stop that magical wheel just for a short moment to admire its beauty. Fanastic image, touching story, sincere comments, fragile spiritual answers… So sensitive… Perhaps it’s not so visually effective, but it’s so mighty spiritual wave washing away all that imaginable values we involuntarily hoarded up on our way of life. Absolute fav!!! :)))

  • Aww…your words are filled with such wisdom and beauty Arvy!! I’m so glad you like it and yes, sometimes it pays to be that tiny stone on the road, taking in the whole Universe that surrounds us!! I will show this to my Ma, who will appreciate your compliment greatly!! Thanks ever so much!! xoxo!! :)))
