Down and Out

Polly Peacock

West Chester, United States

Artist's Description

These guys were shot. Yup, the Marshall was shot too. The funniest part about it was that when someone would say a certain word, the dead men would come to life, lift their hats off the ground, chest, face, etc. and all say, “Code of the west!” Of course, they would immediately fall back down into the same exact position, hats and all. This photograph was taken during the reenactment of Gold Rush Days located in Old Town Sacramento, California.
