Mystical Sunrise at Catalina Island by

A mystical mist rose over Catalina Island during sunrise. Catalina Island is located 26 miles west of Los Angeles in the Pacific Ocean and is part of the state of California. It’s loaded with history, most notably for the Avalon Casino where famous Big Band musicians played in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Casino means gathering place in Italian vs. gambling. The Avalon Casino usually averaged 4,000 people dancing the night away for a whopping 28 years. I can only imagine how much fun they would have had, since Big Band music always makes me want to dance!!

This photograph was taken with a Canon XTI, equipped with a 75mm wide angle lens from a boat in the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, California, USA. It was stunning at best!!

My life is like a well read book that’s never ending, at least for this moment in time. As I continually add new chapters to my book, I find that my photography plays a big part in it. This is most especially true as my great love and fascination with Mother Naure never wanes. It’s my hope that you, too, will share my joy as the pages in my book of life continue to flip forward! My Very Best, Polly Peacock

I think it’s been a good 20 years since I was there and camped in the sailboat we went over in. My honey and I keep talking about going over, but we always seem to find something else to do. :o)

  • Well, it probably hasn’t changed much – that must have been so much fun to sail over! I grew up as a Artist and Sailor’s daughter, so did my fair share of sailing as well! I miss it…
