Sophie Resting by Polly Peacock
Clear

Our little Lassopoo, Sophie, is starting to age. We think she has a sprained ankle and some of her teeth are falling out, but that doesn’t stop her. Oh, no, Sophie may seem very serene here, but believe me, she is the ruler of this house! She’s taught Stevey, our Cocker Spaniel, not to jump up on her side of the bed, to stay away from HER food and how to bark at animals on TV. For that matter, she remembers songs on TV that relate to animals and when she hears the songs begin she automatically starts barking before the animal even appears! She also has an inner time clock that is right on! This is dedicated to Claire, who is Sophie’s alpha!

This shot was taken with a Canon 40D, equipped with a 10-22mm lens and processed with 3 images in Photomatix 4, in West Chester, PA, USA.

My life is like a well read book that’s never ending, at least for this moment in time. As I continually add new chapters to my book, I find that my photography plays a big part in it. This is most especially true as my great love and fascination with Mother Naure never wanes. It’s my hope that you, too, will share my joy as the pages in my book of life continue to flip forward! My Very Best, Polly Peacock

I know his teeth fell out from constantly biting himself I think, he had allergies and it took me awhile to figure out how to stop him as nothing seemed to work. He’s now 14 and he lost them several years ago.

  • I think you just hit on something. Every night at bedtime it sounds like she is chewing on her toenails! We may have to take her to the vet’s tomorrow, so thanks for the info. – it may be something to look into! Have a great day vigor and thanks!! :))

I finally ended up getting some shampoo at Wal Mart for yeast infection because he was chewing himself up raw and also biting his toes and feet. Once I bathed him it all cleared up.

  • We’re taking her to the vets tomorrow, so will mention that – thanks vigor!! I appreciate it!! :)

Doesn’t it just break your heart to know they are hurting and can’t tell you? I do pray you find out what is going on and finding some relief for her.

  • It turns out that she did lose a tooth and that she has borderline lyme’s disease. I didn’t think that dogs could get that…she also has allergies, but the doctor didn’t want to put her on steroids. Yes, it’s so hard watching them grow older…I thought she was going to have a hard time eating, but she is doing OK! Thanks vigor for all of your concern – I appreciate it!! :) x

Yes, sadly they are prone to that and I hate those ticks more than anything. We try to keep the flea and tick drops on them all the time now. Ticks have been so bad this year, I’ve brushed them off me just walking around for a few minutes! Not sure why we even have them things!!! Give her a big hug from me. Biddy has no problem eating let me tell ya!!! He’s 14 and still going strong.

  • Yep, we put the drops on too – they are probably due for that…Sometimes I find them crawling around in our bed! I’ve heard more and more people who are saying that they are have Lyme’s disease and that it literally has changed their entire lives…Tell Biddy that Sophie sends a lick without a tick!! :)))

That Lyme disease is nothing to fool with, nasty stuff. I will tell Bidman that Sophie sends a lick!!!

  • LOL – I know…Just make sure that Bidman sends Sophie a kiss back – she’s very sensitive!! :))
