This had to be one of the strangest places that I have ever seen! What appeared to be an old mill was embarked In the historical center of Sorrento (a small town in southern Italy) in a deep canyon, which is also known as the “Valley of the Mills.” Amazingly enough it began to function in the beginning of the ’900’s – used for grinding wheat. The mill was abandoned sometime during the 19th century and vegetation almost completely covers the old abandoned mill today. It looked just like a place that you would read about in a good fantasy novel sprinkled with fairy magic! That’s some place I’d love to explore, but it’s a long jump down! :)

This photograph was shot with a Canon 40D, equipped with a 75-300mm zoom lens. This photograph was processed with HDR.

My life is like a well read book that’s never ending, at least for this moment in time. As I continually add new chapters to my book, I find that my photography plays a big part in it. This is most especially true as my great love and fascination with Mother Naure never wanes. It’s my hope that you, too, will share my joy as the pages in my book of life continue to flip forward! My Very Best, Polly Peacock

Wow! What a find! And such an adventure! I’m going to explore that area in October, 2014. This shot is thrilling!
Got any tips on the area? Thanks Polly. This is wonderful!

  • Thanks so much! Sorrento is a beautifully quaint and active town on the Mediterranean Sea. There are tons of shops, bakeries, restaurants and the sea views are spectacular at best, especially if you traverse up and down the Amalfi Coast! The town is also historic with beautiful old buildings and fun little alleys to explore! If you go there, be sure to take a trip out to the Island of Capri – it is incredible!! By the way, this shot is on one of the main entrances to the town and it is pretty trippy!! :)
