Wee Georgie Wood Steam Train
Wee Georgie Wood is a 600mm-gauge (2 feet) 1921 Fowler 0-4-0 tank
steam locomotive that operates on the short Farrell Tramway, which opened for operation between the then isolated mining township of Tullah and Farrell Siding, some 9.6 kilometres away on the Emu Bay Railway in 1909.
Wee Georgie Wood was the prime source of motive power for the tramway between 1921 and 1962, when the new Murchison Highway reached Tullah and the original tramway ceased operations.
Most of the original tramway route was inundated by the rising waters of Lake Rosebery.
In the 1980s Wee Georgie was rescued and restored to full running order by a group of local enthusiasts and volunteers.

He’s the little brother of Puffing Billy!
Have you sold this shot to the group who take care of him?
Is he a tourist attraction now?
Wow you know a lot about him.
This is a gorgeous shot so warm and fun! Love to ride him in the misty mountains! :o)

Hi adgray, Yes, Wee Georgie is a tourist attraction! This day was perfect for riding him, as the weather was damp and the mountains were certainly misty!!

Wonderful shot, great imagery, a wonderful piece of history. Great colours (Did you know, the real wee Georgie Wood was comedian in England? He was a tiny little person who always looked like a child)

Fabulous scene, very rustic ( pun intended ) I wonder if there’s a Scottish connection. Tullah sounds very Scottish to me. I know there’s a Talla not too far away!!. They built things to last back then, 1921 to the present & still going strong.
