Mt. Farrell, West Coast, Tasmania
Captured on the West Coast of Tasmania, is the wooded peak of Mt Farrell.
Although it is only 712 m high, Mount Farrell does offer the scenic splendour of views across to Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair National Park. The walk to the top is relatively short (only 4 km) but in that short distance the track rises 500 metres, but you will be rewarded by magnificent views, an alpine lake (Lake Mackintosh) just below the summit and wonderful wildflower display in spring.

Mt. Farrell, West Coast, Tasmania belongs to the following groups:
As Is, Happy Haven, Horizons, Landscape Photography and TasmaniaAvailable for sale as Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints and Framed Prints

love the conflicts – so much of Tasmania seems to be in aesthetic conflict. The serenity persists.

More stunning reflections & fantastic details Carol. More stumps too. Did someone have a Tree Cull!! xx
Carol & Kev Ha... in reply to Robin Brown’s comment, 3 months ago
Oh Robin, they cull trees over here in profusion, tree murderers they are…..so sad to see tree plantations taking over so much of our magical forests….though we the people are fighting more and more to retain our old forests!!!
Robin Brown, 3 months ago
Ah right enough, David Bellamy went out to fight for the Tree’s if I remember correctly. Seriously if I had the time & the funds I’d be an eco warrior too. Lets be honest though without the funds what can we do. At the end of the day we are the consumer so if we don’t consume there’s no market. But its easy to be charitable when we’re rich cos we can afford it. We need to look at ourselves & make tough desicions. Sounds like a wrant!! xx

I hope those trees were cut for a reason? I can remember driving to Wineglass Bay trough Scottsdale and seeing alot of the area forested irresponsably.
Nice image regardless.

Lake Mackintosh began life as an alpine lake, but was then built up and flooded by the Hydro, to dam the Mackintosh River and Sophia River, and feed Mackintosh Power Station. These trees were actually cut down by campers for firewood, they were already dead as a result of the flooding.
