So discouraged...
I dont mean to complain.. I dont mean to be all sad on myself.
Out of all of my friends, I am the only one that has an artistic eye.. No one seems to like my work.. Whenever I show a picture to a friend or family member it is usually because I am so proud of it.. and the usual responce is “oh yeah…”
No one sees the beauty that I see in my subjects.. My mom usually says something like “why didnt you shoot it this way?” or “why isnt the WHOLE flower in the picture?”
They just dont get it… I dont see why I even bother, if no one seems to enjoy it the way I do..

Dont be discouraged..the fact that you see things differently is a good thing….just because others dont see the beauty in things in the same way that you do doesnt mean taht you are wrong….it just means that they shouldnt have a closed mind to what is unknown to them….and that they are missing out on some beautiful stuff!!

The majority of people see at as simply something to hang on a wall, or as a means to remember that big vacation. Seek out others in a more “structured” artistic environment whether it be at school or association for the arts, etc. By definition they will “get it”.

Laura – My family did the same thing to me. They were never impressed with any artwork I created until I was interview in a magazine and won several contests, had some artwork in a local musuem. Forget them. I did and I am happier for it. I do art for me cause I do the art I want to see

YOU have to be pleased with your image…that’s all. The rest of us are just observors and have our opinions on what WE like, but that’s just it…an opinion. Everyone has one…like every one has a butt hole, ya know? We all see things differently, and that, my friend, is the beauty of all of this. I have many many favorite artists on RB, but, I like my work too., So, there it is! Cheer up, keep on creating your images, and post them for us all to see. Rock on girl!! You’ve got great work!

I get exactly the same thing. You can show someone a photo that you have taken which completely blows you away and people just seem so… disinterested. It’s heartbreaking and you do start to question whether or not you are kidding yourself that you have any talent at all. I totally know what you are talking about.
Don’t give up! You have a real talent and please don’t get disheartened! There’s no accounting for some people’s tastes :)

most of us get reactions like that laura and yes it can be disheartening but you have to do it for you. Chin up!!
