Kalmar Nyckel___The Tall Ship of Delaware by

State Pier, New Bedford, Massashusetts, USA+ (6 days in port) (view large)

The Kalmar Nyckel (Key of Kalmar) was a Dutch-built armed merchant ship famed for carrying Swedish settlers to North America in 1638 to establish the colony of New Sweden. A replica of the ship was launched at Wilmington, Delaware, in 1997.
The ship is operated and maintained by a volunteer staff, under the leadership of a paid captain, boatswain, and chief mate. Captain Lauren Morgens, with Sharon Litcofsky as Chief Mate and Relief Captain. Volunteers maintain the ship, run the education program, and sail her from port to port.

Click here Wikipedia for the whole History of the Original and Modern day Kalmar Nyckel it is fascinating

A beautiful rendition… And the process really brought out the blue…. Love it.

  • Thank you Larry….That’s the true colors of this beauty….as it is…the sky chose to become dark and overcast at the time it was leaving for a sail and had to process in Photomatix with two consecutive captures and it’s not easy to get that on a moving subject but I had no choice….I do like the outcome though :-)
