2011 People’s Gallery Exhibition at Austin City Hall

What an honor! I’ve had two photographs accepted into the 2011 People’s Gallery Exhibition at Austin City Hall. These works are now being developed into a cohesive exhibition, which will remain on view throughout the next year ( February 18, 2011-January 13, 2012). The call for entries yielded more than 1,400 entries from 325 artists and art organizations. Out of those entries only 150 artists and 172 entries were accepted this year. I had two out of five photographs accepted. I tried out the year before and all of my submissions were denied. You don’t understand how happy I am. I never thought I would ever make it in. This is a big step from last year and a great achievement for me. I never give up trying and hard work eventually pays off. :D

Each year the public is invited to vote for their favorite artwork! Please go vote, the City Hall exhibition hours are from 8 am – 7 pm M-F. Voting ends December 30, 2011 and the winner will be announced at the opening reception next year.

Here are the two selected works chosen and some photos taken at the opening reception, which took place Feb. 18, 2011 :
