Mariposa Grove is a sequoia grove located near Wawona, California, USA, in the southernmost part of Yosemite National Park. In 1857 Galen Clark and Milton Mann happened upon it and named the grove after Mariposa County, California, where it is located.
Giant Sequoia are, by volume, the largest living things which have ever existed on the planet. A sequoia may live 3000 years, making them among the oldest living things on earth. The oldest trees in Yosemite were seedlings at around 1000 to 1500 BC.
