A Golden Mean

I’m struck
dumb by you. How
stupid
can a person be to be so ignorant of the
simple fact that shaping one’s
own body for
the best effect means
scaling down your over-
abundant attributes while scaling up what
you lack. Beauty
is like money:
you crave to have more than anyone else but you don’t want to have
too much.
The rich are envied to a certain level of
wealth but beyond that
level they’re
resented, even hated,
sometimes kidnapped for ransom when not just robbed at gun-
point. Celebrities
are like rich
folk, being likewise rich, but they are more than merely
envied, they are
worshipped, however only to a certain
point at which point we the little
people string
them up, spit in their faces, curse them and
throw rocks, and laugh when they
drug
themselves to
death.
Rich as Croesus, fine, we
salute you;
greedy as Mammon, we will gouge your eyes
out, skin you
alive, quarter
you, drag
you through the streets, the moral
being go
ahead and strive to be
rich but beware embarrassments of
riches, and
unfortunately, embarrassment is all you, poor you, my dearest
dear ever
seem to get.
I say poor, dear you in the sense of fathomless
regret. Poor,
poor, dear sweet you I’m weeping you should see me weeping even
as I write, I’ve
gone all wet.
