Sri Lankan family, after the 2004 tsunami.

The children ‘s eyes are so bright and full of life, the contrast with the man’s broken eyes is painful, well captured again Peter, x anna
Yes, the father here was quite an alcoholic. The whites of his eyes are not so white because they are bloodshot. In another case, three of my favorite children in the village were orphans since their parents had been jailed for selling heroin two years earlier. The oldest of them, a boy of sixteen, was supporting his siblings and grandmother by working in a factory, when he would have liked to be attending school. This boy and his grandmother are the ones pictured in Sri Lankan Tsunami Survivors 1.
