After a fantastic run of 21 submissions to my stock site (Alamy) getting through Quality Control unscathed I’ve hit a wall. Four rejects in a row – I’ve never had that before. What the hell is going on? You know the worst bit, in every case the reviewers were right.

Ok, the first thing I should say is that the QC guys and girls in stock couldnt care less less about artistic merit only technical faults. And going back and looking after the fact I found exactly what they did. Poor focus, up-rezzing artifacts and general softness. The problem is time and attention to detail – I dont spend enough of either.

I need to slow down, be more deliberate, focus more on getting the basics right.
