Hi! I’m Paul and I’ve recently joined the red bubble team. Since then, I’ve been amazed and impressed at the recognition the site has with my friends. Chatting about red bubble with these friends has been the first insight for me into how passionate my friends are about their hobby/ passion/ private side! Guess that goes to show how effective and important red bubble is as an outlet for people’s creativity and forming bonds with like minded people. AND the value of having somewhere to find the fantastic work some are too shy and modest to share!

As for me, sadly I’m not the least bit creative! But, I do appreciate the experience of forming a connection with art. There are only two paintings in my house (and some pictures of the family, our orchards and so on)- one of which I passed in Chapel St, stopped to admire and then literally could not walk on with the thought it might not be there if I went back (I had a similar experience in Havana once, and have always regretted not purchasing the piece I visualise with ease 6 years later and wasn’t going to make the same mistake twice!)

.... so within minutes I was trying to squeeze it into my mates Golf. This was to no avail and I found myself struggling through South Yarra’s back streets with a 1.5×1.5m irreplaceable canvas under my arm willing it not to rain, and for the canvas not to bang into something in the wind! It now takes pride of place in my dining room where I can see it every morning as I come down the stairs, and again just before I go to bed at night. (For the record, the piece is a highly textured (someone correct me on the terminology pls!) oil on canvas, “Cosmos”, by Nellie Zimmerman, a Melbourne artist, I presume).

There remains a huge expanse of walls in my house yet to be appropriately adorned- a solution to which I expect to find on red bubble….. along with a refresh of my gradually depleting wardrobe of tee shirts!
