This original watercolour done on Saunders Waterford 300 gsm rough paper (290mm x 200mm) was done to a theme for an art award. We had to fit the theme 120 in the Valley. The competition was the Chudleigh Art Award and the main prize was $1000. Chudleigh is a farming community about 1 hours drive from Launceston. I was lucky enough to win the major prize! This painting was featured as ‘Pick of the Week’ in Impressionism Cafe. Over 700 views now – that’s wonderful!

Superbly worked watercolour. The rough paper has been used perfectly to provide the right textures for the track and the fields to the sides. The plodding cow is brilliant. Love the trees too. You have thoroughly deserved all the plaudits.

  • Thank you so much. I think this one worked well cause it was done quickly – left it late to enter comp. Sometimes it is just better that way – the painting doesn’t become laboured. Thanks, too, for putting me on your watch list – very flattering.

  • Hi Albert. Thanks for putting me on your watch list. Very cool. The White Dove Award sounds cool too. However, I am very new (only a week old) – what is its significance?
