This is an original watercolour of our wonderful Tamar River in Launceston. I row with the Tamar Rowing Club, but sometimes when it is foggy in the winter we are not able to get on the water. Our coach has a yard-stick – if you can’t see across to the other side of the Tamar basin, then it is not safe to row – hence the title. It was done on Saunders Waterford 300 gsm rough paper using french ultramarine and brown madder.

This really catches the bleakness of a winter day. It’s like that
where I am today. Grey, cold, rainy, somber.
Rowing? Sounds like fun and a great way to stay in shape!

  • Think this is the best place to reply – then you might get to read it! Remember I am very NEW at this!!! Sorry you have bad weather today. Its fine and sunny here. I rowed yesterday, but it was so windy we wished we were sailing instead!
