PURPLE MEMORIES: The story of Sydney’s Jacarandas
A long time ago there was a private hospital in Cronulla called the Jacaranda Hospital. Every time a new baby was born the matron would give the new mother a jacaranda tree in a small pot.
In November when you stand on a high point in the Sutherland shire you see a marvellous sprinkling of purple and you know that many of them are more than 50 years old and were given as a gift to celebrate birth.
This collection of images is a celebration of the beautiful Jacaranda Tree which grows not only in Sydney but also on Queensland’s Gold Coast where these images where taken.
