Muddied Dreams by Dianne Ilka
Clear

8″ × 8″ Acrylic (burnt umber and white) on box canvas

All children have dreams and hopes for the future. For some though, their dreams are a little more “muddied”…
I hope that one day we can live in a world where children are free to be children and can dream that anything is possible :)

This has been by translation of “Fiji Boy” by Hans Kawitzki for the SoJie 17 portrait workshop

YES! You did it Di! This is absolutely wonderful, with just the right amount of ‘splatter’! Love it to bits!

  • Thankyou so much Lynda for all of your support with this one. I’m really glad that I kept some of the splatter :)

    it’s a superb work…love the splatters…it makes it more painterly….

  • Thanks Janis! I wanted this one to be realistic but also didn’t want to just copy the photo so pretty happy with the final result :)

Lovely work You created a more melancholoy piece that the original – nicely done!

  • Thanks Leslie. It’s quite funny, but he kind of developed his own mood as I painted him. It’s like it was somehow lurking behind the original photo, just waiting to come out on the canvas.
