This diptych (I & II – are there more?) bother me only because I cannot see them hung together and have to click back and forth like some child’s flip book. They aren’t a character study, although that’s the hook which captures my attention. Rather they seem more a choreography of mood. And that orb on the right beckons like the light on Daisy’s dock. The stark elegance all in monochrome suggest something close to a melancholy induced by what? A culture? A status? A maturity? Gender? Alienation? It’s an intriguing challenge this set. Thanks Zep for tumbling me into it.
