I heard these parody lyrics once on radio or TV about 15 years ago when I was quite young. Then one day when the ACDC song (It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll) came on I innocently sang the sausage roll lyrics. My brother was in hysterics which in turn put me in hysterics. I don’t think I can ever remember laughing so hard!! We laughed until our stomachs were in agony and tears were streaming out our eyes! A very wonderful memory.

A mondegreen is the mishearing or misinterpretation of a phrase, typically a standardized phrase such as a line in a poem or a lyric in a song, due to near homophony.

    We do that too! Not the sausage roll one but we make up our own silly versions. It’s even funnier when you catch someone else singing it your way! ha! I love that!!!!
