Where are the Wild Things.

Where are the Wild Things.

Came across this gorgeous installation at the 2009 Melbourne Flower Show.

And only recently have hunted down a hardback version of the book (Where The Wild Things Are) so I can read it with my son.

I remember this book clearly from my early years. Mostly I remember when our local library had a “Where the Wild Things Are” Theme in the Picture Story book section and the whole library was decked out with giant Wild Things everywhere. I was enchanted by it.

Just heard too that a movie is due in the near future. (check it out)

that’s so great!!! I saw the newer extended trailer the other day and I nearly cried!! I’m a sentimental fool!

  • Pip Gerard replied

I’m just as sentimental.. and nostalgic!! I can’t help it. I’ve gone and searched for and bought every book that I loved as a child so I could read them to my son! :D

I’ll never forget when our local library had a big “Where the Wild Things Are” Theme. They had giant paintings of the monsters all over the kids book section and I felt enchanted by it.

ps…it’s these types of illustrations that really inspire me to draw, the things we grew up with, the story books we held in our hands and dreamed over….. the things from other people’s imaginations that entered our own and grew, and grew…...and grew from there :)

  • Pip Gerard replied

I completely agree. There’s nothing like finding something that touches that deep nostalgic & sentimental part of us that in so many ways brings us back to our childhood. (It’s actually a really lovely feeling to have as an adult don’t you think).
