Sunday Driver
SUNDAY 2ND NOVEMBER, 2008
I saw these two on the road and just couldn’t resist taking a snap.
I love how you can tell, just from their silhouettes that it’s an old couple….. in the car they probably dated in.
Literally this guy was a Sunday driver as not only was it a Sunday… but he was also quite a slow driver.

Thanks Jase. It was in pristine perfect condition. He obviously loves his Fords too.
warmonger62
Fantastic shot, Pip. I’d say it was the first car he ever bought… And it was brand new at the time…
Only in Australia, Only in Victoria, but PLEASE dont tell me it was IN Melbourne? The only thing worse would have been a Volvo instead of a Falcon, with the driver wearing a hat and smoking a pipe!!!
Andrew
Pip Gerard
Thanks Andrew. Outer Suburbs… near Epping I think.
Tony Ryan

being on a “club permit” (per the number plate) he is only allowed to drive it for a few days a year…most probably Sundays for this guy – however you certainly have captured his focus and attention to the two loves of his life…his partner and his car… well I suppose it could be his girlfriend there..but
Pip Gerard replied
I never knew that about the permits – how intriguing. Why is that… is it so the car keeps in good shape?
You’re right, definitely by the look of how well he looked after the beauty it’s definitely the love of his life… made complete with the Mrs in the front seat beside him. I prefer to be a romantic and think it’s his wife of at least 30 years… but with life and it’s uncertainties you never know :)
JimFilmer
With the rising price of rego and insurance, and that these enthusiasts tend to have more than one car – the club permit system allows fore them to enjoy their “loves” for several days per year and not have to spend a small kings ransom to do so
tdub303
awesome selective coloring!

Neat old car! Oh yes I remember sunday drives. Driving anywhere for no reason other to drive. It just something we no longer can afford with todays high gas price.
Mojca Savicki

John Robb
Wonderful Capture, love the way your post processed it. Great work Pip.
Pip Gerard replied
Thanks John… I was so excited that i had my camera handy when I saw them on the road. Considering I took this photo will being a front seat passenger of a moving car at around 50k’s I think it turned out better than I ever expected.

Great story depicting action capture and love the editing is very effective for lending the car back in the days! :)
Pip Gerard replied
I did the windscreen and the couple purposely in sepia tone to create an olden day feel.
Thanks Sandy for all your comments and support :)

Lovely shot :) I have had a few cars on the CH sheme. Quite funny when the police pull you over and most of them know nothing about the permit scheme! lol…
I like to see our older cars still being driven on the road. After all we are a recycle society arent we?
Pip Gerard replied
I agree!!
My brother had a Holden EJ for years.. I used to love driving it so much… felt like I was in a time machine :D

This put the biggest smile on my face! What a great capture. Nostalgia epitomised.
Pip Gerard replied
so glad to hear that Parmi. Thank you.
Trish Woodford
Wonderful shot, love the perspective & treatment :))
Vicki Ferrari
Great capture Pip! Fantastic! And I love the effect you have used here too! (and the fact that you have taken out the number plate! Good thinking!) :))
Pip Gerard replied
Thanks Vicki. I consciously made the view of the couple and through the front windscreen sepia to give a feel of seeing through their eyes. Kind of like everything inside the car is sweet and vintage. While outside is more modern and shiny. Thought it best for privacy to take out the number plate. Besides the numbers on it were kind of distracting.
I really appreciate your lovely comment… thank you.
John Wheat
Great car. Great shot! :-)
