Smoke and Mirrors
Inspired by the beautiful Words are not enough by zee1

Smoke and Mirrors belongs to the following groups:
Flash Fiction, Graphic Scratch, The Word Tree and WMGI’m always amazed by the places you find me.
I was trawling through mythology books and suddenly there you were: Icarus in the sky flying too close to the sun for wings of feathers and wax.
I wonder what I would say to you now, what magic rhyme makes up your secret password.
I wonder where the little green door is that you’re behind, dancing in firelight with flowers in your hair, screaming towanda! around your bonfire under the smoky wallpaper of the night sky.
I wonder what spells and spices I might blend to reach you in the witching hour when stars are the shattered pieces of my looking glass; when all I yearn for is the weightlessness of falling down rabbit holes towards my gilded memories of wonderland.
What does it feel like behind the sun, below the sea?
I’ll bring the vanilla vodka, your old guitar and my ruby slippers.
