the fortune teller's teacup
She smelled like spiced apples.
Her long slender fingers fluttered around her throat casting shadows of frenzied little wings on her collarbone.
Her silver earrings chimed every time she moved, bells and charms.
I watched her mouth as she read the leaves; she had a freckle on her upper lip that left the taste of cocoa on my tongue. It looked like a vagabond chocolate drop strayed from an afternoon delight.
The tea was steaming, long slender minty vines that filled my lungs.
I see, she whispered.
