Every time I wonder about something I would say ‘What on earth?…’ I think it is appropriate here. :o) Wonderful capture and great eye you have Otto.

  • Thanks Sophie. I’m sure this is a survey marker likely done by the rail road which is off to the right. If I ever got back to this location I’ll shoot a wide angle to get the surroundings :o)

such an interesting shot otto! it seems so strange to me that the clay should be so dried out when, one, the water appears to be high since it is close to the marker, and two, the clay under the water is in as rough shape as the exposed clay! .. =0 .. great capture!

  • Thanks Kathleen. I’ve often wished I done a wide angle shot while I was there :o( I’m standing on a narrow concrete wall about a foot wide that forms a weir and was used to power an old mill on the other bank. Behind me is a 5 foot drop to the rocks and in front is the thick soft mud, not a good place to loose your balance. This shot shows a narrow flood plain that will change quickly with the rise and fall of the river.
