Loss

Christ’s beatitudes speak of how the divine draws closer to those who have gone beyond obvious joys. For the Buddha this was a move beyond desire.

Loss belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical

Pity the man who loses his sight
Or the heiress reduced to rags
They mourn for all that once was

The athlete who is crippled in war
Or the musician who no longer can hear
Pity them now for what’s gone

The wise man turns quietly and smiles
“If the measure of grief is in loss
Then happy are those who have nothing
For soon all indeed shall be gone.”

This touches close to home Martin.
My brother is in Julia Farr Centre in Adelaide, having had severe cerebral palsy all of his life.
I feel sorrier for the people who are there as a result of head injuries and the like after an accident.
They have had a semblance of a “normal” life and have had it taken away.

Was Christ not saying that God is there for all, so for those who become aware of relationship with God, draw close, and our sufferings are alleviated by the comfort of God’s presence, when we open our hearts to God, through worship, praise, thought, speech, and are strengthened in spirit and find peace.
Hope gives us the ability to bounce back, carry on after great loss,
faith gives us strength of mind to endure, and love, the greatest of all, heals, through giving and receiving unconditionally.
One can live without great wealth, but without faith hope and most of all love, become bitter and withered up inside.
When our spirit has been crushed, our body incapacitated, mind challenged in adversity,
the letting go of past expectation , achievement etc is the beginning of finding new gifts latent in us that would never otherwise surfaced, and with that comes love and self acceptance and tolerance.

Wrote such a lengthy response omitted to say thanks Pilgrim.
And yes one day we will all be dust and bones, so the less fuss the better along the way and enjoy the journey in peace from war, greed, bias and destruction. Cheers
