I think I must be getting narcissistic but I find myself looking in mirrors and catching reflections and being interested in the interplay. And I only ever have my iphone. So this is what I get. Anyway this is me waiting for a meeting and being reflected back by the receptionist’s desk. There is just such an interplay of stuff in this image.

Reflections always catch my eye….I’d not want to sit there though….hate looking at myself…

  • I don’t know but I am curious how I play in the scene and I feel a strange objectivity about it.

this is way cool…. the tension it so apparent…. very nice and I like that little orange angel on your shoulder…..:)

I actually the much smaller person sitting down. the man standing up is behind the reception counter. The action is on 3 planes:
    - him and what is behind the counter
    - me sitting in the chair taking the shot
    - the people outside the window.

It would have been good to have had a real camera to capture it better but it was a bit of a secret shot.

Fascinating capture so many different moods happening.
Hope the foal is still doing well;)

Yes, thank you so much the foal is doing very well. The loss of Genevieve, our gorgeous mare, was heartbreaking but little Angelo is a blessing – you have to love foals. The world is wonderful to them.

Clever work my friend… like it! Love the way the peripheral people are all on separate planes. Love good use of scale.

Pilgrim I know that’s you sitting down… now look above the standing man’s shoulder….in reality it may be some buddist monks being projected there but it also looks like an orange angel waiting with you for whatever comes next……..

  • Yes, I am with you now. And yes she is like an angel. It is quite an odd scene really. Very ordinary but lots of little interplays going on. I think there are actually 9 people (or parts of people) in the scene altogether (excluding the angel). And yet when I took it I was really only conscious of a few of them. Our lives are like that. We see more when we reflect a little.

I’m counting fourteen with the angel… who would be a boy if the picture is of buddist monks…. the lady with the handbag just creeping into the frame…. you…the receptionist then the couple talking with three others a bit further on in the background …then the angel which is actually three men in orange robes…. all monks I would think…. the one in the bottom of the next projection and four in the top of that part of the projection….

but holding all that together is you in the centre…. looking a bit trepicatious to be honest like you would be biting your fingernails or shedding hair if no one else was around….. yet out of all that confusion and multi planes and dimensions…. there is you and the receptionist and the angel….. a good portent in fact…….:)

  • Now if we are going to count the people in the pictures I think there may be a few more – as I see at least one on the tractor. We have so a narrow field of vision on our lives. We see so very little – I guess that is the way it has to be but it is interesting to me when I can broaden it a little for myself.
