Self Portrait - at the Gym
Sort of tricky to take without looking like I am invading people’s privacy. It is very interesting to see ourselves in different contexts. And to see ourselves as others are.

I love these self portraits w/ the iPhone. But on this one, I think you should pumping some Iron, Martin., or at least get on the elliptical. ;))

Yes, it took at least 15 minutes out of my short session to get this right. I mostly ride the bike on the hill roads near home, but go to the gym on Saturdays when taking the children to classes.

love the last line in your description… rings so true! I really like this kinda introspective work!

WOW – I’m finding these some of the more intriguing works I’ve come across… From the thought to take the shot, to the process and where you take them has so much artistic depth. Very refreshing take..Great work Pilgrim!

This is high praise indeed from someone with your artistic sensibility. I may be finding a voice!

This is so cool. I’m staring at it and find myself leaning in, to get into the shot, too….to be part of the experience.
My elderly (1997!!!) phone does nothing but….er….phone calls…so I don’t know anything about shooting pix with a phone, but I think I’ve seen that some are 5 megapixels. Your self-portrait phone shots would be an intriguing calendar, but I’m guessing they aren’t big enough?
Oh! I hope you don’t mind my saying that. I just love this kind of thing.
Living art…neat.

Rigtht you are they are only big enough for cards. I would have to import into photoshop and work on them. I quite like the grainy, toy camera feel. They are just taken wth an iphone which has the advantage of being very inconspicuous. Thanks for the comment.

Yikes! They’re super the way they are. I wouldn’t want to see them messed-with, either.
You’ve inspiring me to look into getting a new phone, though, when mine croaks. I’d planned to just slide off that particular grid to save money. But the concept of taking shots unobtrusively is compelling.
::runs to see if the old phone is still alive::

LOL!!! I hope it’s worth the gym membership!
