The ancient city of Petra (Sela- the rock city) in Jordan would exist and become the refuge for the fleeing Jews during the Tribulation (Isaiah 16:1-4; Matthew 24:16; Revelation 12:6, 14) In 1994, Jordan and Israel signed a peace treaty making Petra a potentional refuge for fleeing Jews.

I was meant to go to little Petra when I was in Wadi Musa in October…I never got a chance, was too busy exploring the great mas of big Petra! Looks great though…I’ll make a big effort to go next time!

This is a good shot, with some fine contrast, showing the strong shadows off.
Gives an impression of the harsh light of the desert in the middle east.
The dry climate, has preserved the look of this, since it was carved!
I would like to see more history in the description.

What a wonderful place Petra is to visit. I went to Jordan and Petra quite along time ago … missed this smaller masterpiece!! Thank you for sharing it.

That’s almost biblical in its stark eloquence. The light is great and the nuances of the rock are a perfect foil for an image that reminds us just how talented those artisans must have been.
I haven’t been to Petra, so thank you for whetting my interest.

Nice shot … Never been to Petra or Little Petra, but I did live outside Emerald many a year ago at a place called Cornerstone … I don’t think it is there anymore, but I remember it fondly …
