Percy Pilane, born in Moruleng (Pilanesberg -South Africa) is a proud South African, an Artist, a trained Graphic Designer and a graduate in Biomedical Technology.

I am a self taught artist. Art has been part of me since the age of seven, when I discovered playing around with colours and drawing makes me feel complete.
I use mostly acrylics (70% of my work) and as a graphic designer I am also equally interested in mixed media and various printing media. My paintings show my complex personality and things that are dear to me, celebration of the beauty and colour in life. My work reflects cultural issues, various political and environmental issues and general social issues that affect our lives.
I love to paint African people with their vibrant clothes. I am influenced by my African culture and tradition and what I see around – decorative patterns, the contrast of light and shadow. My choice is to depict beauty, but sometime humour needs to be displayed as well. I try to express what I feel at the time hence my paintings will therefore vary in themes. I do believe that art does not have to be just realistically beautiful or emotional torture but can be funny as well. I believe art is not just a thing, it is a way.

My work is held in private, government and corporate collection local and abroad.
