Snowdrops peep through with nodding bells
And Crocus’ with their saffron smells
Those flowers of early Spring hold sway
And chase the Winter chills away
Enjoy them now, they’re gone too soon
They light the last of Winter’s gloom
To herald Spring with gold and green
The dafodill will soon be seen
To lengthen days and light the hours
From Winter’s snow to golden showers
For full blown Summer with her heat
And vibrant colours, scent so sweet
Will soon be here to cheer us all
Those little flowers her early call..
Snowdrops
I couldn’t resist this silly little poem that came into my head on seeing all the snowdrops … a different form for me!?

This is wonderful Jen – the first telling of Spring time is special to me. Grew up near the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, I think Spring was born there. It’s beyond believe – my favorite time of year. Thanks for writing this – the form is superb.

Exquisite!!! I adore your meter, flow and embellishment of beauty as seen through your blessed eyes. You have not the spirit of a non-poet within you… you have the ability to transform words into masterpieces. Excellence and mastery, and I’m hoping a little will rub off!

This is lovely, Pinjinlane. When writing about nature and especially in appreciation of spring, it is so easy to become trite and mawkish, but you’ve hit upon it beautifully. The rhythm is perfect without being predictable and you have managed to be fun and true to the season without attempting too much.

Such a picture your beautiful words manage to say , this time pure beauty lacking any dismay.
I love also the one i have found on this day, less serious, tame and wanting almost to play , the beauty you have found, share and put on display.
Greatly appreciate
