Looking down the gorge from the lower bridge, Falls of Bruar . I’m particularly impressed by the colours and the smooth glistening rocks.
This area is rich in geology (an extension of the Loch Tay fault?): there’s a lot of limestone and other metamorphic sedimentary rocks (layered slate, possibly some schist) and a bit of red sandstone nearby, all folded making rakish angles.
Taken on the Shen Hao 5×4″ large-format camera with Fuji Velvia (old RVP emulsion) film.

This is like looking into the heart of a jewel!
Thanks storm22, LocoCow and pijinlane :)
Great shot….bit scary looking down…..it all looks smooth and silvery. Amazing.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Love this one!
Don’t know why ;) but I expect the terminator to morph out of the bottom right of this pic. It does remind me of the lower falls in Glen Nevis where the local neds oops sorry youfs jump off the bridge 20 -30 feet into the torrent below…. happy days thanks.
Well, it does look like a crater, yes – ’tis actually a gorge; the shot clips the top of a natural arch at the bottom-left corner, through which the river runs.
Youfs… I’d like to see them try it here :)
