A thick layer of snow covering the heather and trees and distant mist obscuring the view.
Taken in Glen Affric in the Scottish Highlands, a Caledonian Forest reserve area, before the sun rose on a cold winter’s morning. The Scots Pine trees in the mid-distance are probably about 350-500yr old.
wonderfully captured !! and congratulations on the feature too!
Thanks, indeedie :)

I’m going to make sure I have some black and white handy myself this winter, PigleT, because your work has inspired me to try some B&W snow scenes. This is great. Cheers, Brett

Magical scene.
Thanks. Yup, it was like driving through a silver-grey-white/inky-blue Narnia to get there. The sort of morning where one drives away buzzing :)

Thanks Kevin – yup, I love that place to bits – so atmospheric. And I’ve been there when chaffinches have eaten out of our hands… sweet.
